We are United Row, a dynamic duo formed by best friends Anna McLean and Jenny D’Anthony. Our incredible journey began on the Clemson University Rowing Team, where we not only honed our rowing skills but also became roommates and inseparable friends.
From conquering mountain peaks to tackling half marathons our adventures have one common thread – we do it together, and we always make sure to have a blast along the way.
Three years ago, Anna and her brother known as “The Seablings” made history as the first brother-sister pair to row an ocean and fastest mixed pair to row the Atlantic. Now, we’re thrilled to step up our game and embark on the Pacific, united with our sponsors, friends, families, and supporters.
We’re rowing with a purpose, championing our alma mater’s Hear Her Roar Campaign, which aims to empower women across sports, education, and leadership.
Fueled by the spirit of unity and determination, join us in our incredible journey and together let’s make a lasting impact and inspire generations to come.

We are the ‘Pacific Triow’ – Charlotte Irving, Jess Goddard and Taylor Winyard – three adventurers with a second ocean crossing in our sights! We met competing in the 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in separate crews. Taylor was the first of us to reach land in Antigua after 40 days at sea as part of ‘Team Atlantic Nomads’. Taylor set a new world record for the fastest mixed trio to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Jess and her team, ‘In Deep Ship,’ made land two days later, completing a world first as a mixed team of four – three women and one man. Just two hours later, Charlotte reached Antigua, setting a new world record for the fastest female trio, alongside her ‘ExtraOARdinary’ teammates. We all loved rowing an ocean so much that when presented with the opportunity to tackle a new ocean, we have grabbed it with six hands! Our goal is to inspire a generation of girls and women to participate in adventure and extreme endurance sports, and to raise £150,000 for our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.
Cancer remains one of the world’s greatest health challenges. Like many others, cancer has played a part in all of our lives. Research is an integral part of bringing about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. Although Cancer Research has led to significant advances in prevention, detection and treatment over the past few decades, there is still so much to be done. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on Cancer Research funding, with many organisations and governments redirecting resources towards pandemic-related research and response. Cancer continues to be one of the most prevalent healthcare issues of our time, which made it an obvious choice for our fundraising efforts across our Pacific Challenge.

– Tod Harrison has completed in an English Channel swim and taken part in multiple Iron Man UK contests and several ultra-marathons.
– Dan Manwaring is a qualified snowboard instructor and has completed several races including half marathons and Ironman triathlons.
– Mike Parsonage has served in the Royal Navy for over 20 years. He has been an active member of the Traditional Rowing Team and has participated in the London River Race on several occasions.
– Paul Coker is a trained pilot whose most recent accomplishments include swimming from Asia to Europe, climbing Kilimanjaro and learning to skydive.
We have selected the charities Nacoa and MIND as the recipients of our fundraising activities for the event. Both these charities are important to us on a personal level and do valuable work in providing support and advice in their areas of expertise.
Nacoa: The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (www.nacoa.org.uk) is a registered charity founded in 1990 to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcoholism or a similar addictive problem. This includes children of all ages, many of whose problems only become apparent in adulthood.
MIND (www.mind.org.uk) provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding. Their motto is: “We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.”
Rowing Oceans for Women, RO4W, is a team of four women with a goal of getting to Hawaii as quickly as possible and a mission to empower and inspire other women to take on whatever challenge is in front of them, regardless of if it seems impossible on paper. Seeing that our mission is to inspire women to take on their biggest challenges, we feel that it is important to give back to communities that uplift and empower women. We will be raising funds and awareness for the Hawaii Domestic Violence Action Center and the Women’s Sports Foundation.

The goal of Human Powered Potential is to explore and expand our capacity for endurance — mental, physical and spiritual — while engaging in endeavors intended to test our limits. We come to row the Pacific Ocean in 2024 to test our abilities, support each other and express our potential. Our team has more than 125 years of human-powered experience including climbs on 8000-meter peaks in the Himalaya; single-push alpine ascents in Alaska, Canada and South America; ultra-running, cycling, and skiing events; and the Race Across America (RAAM).
We are incredibly honored to row in alliance with the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research. The Foundation stands not only as a beacon of great hope and promise in the face of an immeasurably challenging physical condition, but also as a standard of excellence in organized fundraising and paradigm-shifting, having funded over $1 billion in research programs to date.We will endeavor to row with the power and strength of everyone who is impacted by Parkinson’s. And we literally have the power and strength of one such individual crewing our boat. We are humbled to support such a great cause and to illustrate the power of endurance that can be so instrumental for those with Parkinson’s
To be a competitive, energetic, and uplifting team who forms lifelong friendships, embraces the journey and emerges as champions. We strive to ignite a passion in young women, fostering their leadership in STEM fields and conservation. We envision a future where women lead the charge in devising solutions to preserve our oceans. As strong, influential role models, we demonstrate the power of women in sports and the workforce alike. Together, we will fearlessly conquer challenges, and face the waves with Full Foarce!
Play Like a Girl envisions a world where every girl reaches her full potential, believing that girls given the opportunity to play on a team become women with the confidence to stand on their own. This embodies our passion to inspire young women to chase their wildest dreams no matter how big or small.
